About Family Resource Center

Family Resource Center (FRC) is designed to support families by offering a wide range of services and resources aimed at strengthening family well-being and promoting healthy children.

FRC is a vital community hub where parents, caregivers, and children can access resources that build resilience, encourage healthy relationships, and foster stability.

FRC operates under a family-centered and strength-based approach, recognizing that every family has unique needs and inherent strengths, and we serve as a bridge connecting families to local resources.

FRC offers services to families and children of Olmsted County with the goal of helping them thrive.

Family Resource Center is a key resource in the community, providing families with tools, education, and support that promote stability and resilience. Through the implementation of the Five Protective Factors and tailored support for kinship caregivers, we are focused on strengthening families and helping ensure every child can flourish.

We believe

We believe community is central to our success. We are committed to listening to the needs of our community and serving those needs.

We are focused on providing concrete resources families need, connecting families with local programs, and giving them the opportunity to meet and socialize with other parents and caregivers to help all Olmsted County children grow stronger together.

We believe in building a compassionate, inclusive environment where every family feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their fullest potential.

Join us as we work to create a brighter future for families in our community.

Our History

Family resource centers have existed in other states for many years, but they are relatively new in the State of Minnesota.

In 2023 Family Service Rochester, with support from Olmsted County, began exploring the possibility of opening a family resource center. We completed a community needs assessment and spoke with members of the community about what they would like to see in a family resource center.

The Family Advisory Board was established in December 2024 to guide the development of the family resource center.

In March 2025 we opened our doors to families for the first time. We continue to grow and develop in response to what families tell us they need.

Family Resource Center (FRC) is an active member of the Minnesota Community and Family Resource Center Network. The Network provides invaluable benefits to FRC by fostering a collaborative environment, sharing best practices, and providing technical assistance. This network aligns our efforts with state partners, develops a clear vision for family support across Minnesota, and advocates for sustainable funding. This work strengthens our capacity to serve families effectively.
