Kinship Care

Are you raising a loved one's kid? Support is available.

Family Resource Center is ths only one  in Minnesota to provide a special focus on Kinship Caregivers.

Kinship care is relatives or close family friends caring for children when their biological parents are unable to do so. This care can be a formal arrangement through the child welfare system (for example, children in foster care arrangements with family members) or an informal arrangement between families.

FRC is especially focused on serving families in these informal arrangements, although we can help any kinship families. Kinship caregivers face unique challenges, including legal issues, financial strain, and emotional stress.

Family Resource Center offers support and resources, including legal information and referrals, a support group tailored to relative caregivers, and resource navigation to help access support and services. By recognizing the importance of kinship care in providing continuity and stability for children, we ensure that these caregivers are not left to manage alone. This support helps keep children in safe, loving, and familiar environments with their families.
