Whether you're a new parent, grandparent, or someone caring for a child through kinship care, creating a will is one of the most important ways to protect the people you love. A will helps ensure your wishes are honored, provides guidance for your family, and allows parents and caregivers to name guardians for children in their care. Yet nearly two-thirds of Americans do not have a current will.

That's why, during National Make-A-Will Month this August, Family Service Rochester is offering a free online will creation tool through our partnership with The Planned Legacy Program.

In about 20 minutes, you can:

  • Create a legally valid will
  • Name guardians for children in your care
  • Protect your loved ones
  • Ensure your wishes are honored
  • Include a charitable gift if you choose

There is no obligation to include Family Service Rochester or any other charity in your plans.

Already Have a Will?

Life changes, and your will should too. Consider reviewing your plans if you've welcomed a child or grandchild, taken on a caregiving role, experienced a major life change, or haven't updated your will in several years.

Leave a Legacy of Caring

Many people choose to include a charitable gift in their estate plans as a way to continue supporting the causes they care about. A future gift to Family Service Rochester can help ensure children, families, caregivers, and older adults receive support for generations to come.

Whether you're creating your first will or updating an existing one, now is a great time to take this meaningful step for yourself and those you love.
