Creating Community, One Playgroup at a Time

At the Family Resource Center (FRC), we believe families do better when they feel connected. Supportive friends, neighbors, and community members around you makes a big difference, especially when raising young children. That’s why we create a welcoming space where families can build meaningful relationships.

Parenting can be joyful, but it can also feel overwhelming or lonely at times. Having people to talk to, laugh with, and lean on, everyday challenges feel easier to handle. Social connections remind us that we are not alone and that help and encouragement are close by.

One of the best ways FRC fosters connections is through our playgroups that give families plenty of chances to come together in a relaxed, friendly setting. Children can explore, play and make new friends while parents and caregivers meet others who share similar experiences. Everyone feels welcome, supported and included.

While children are busy playing, adults have time to talk, share stories, and build friendships. These simple conversations often turn into strong connections that continue outside of playgroup.

We are especially grateful to partner with Families First, who allows us to use the gym at the Gage Empowerment Center for Active Playgroups on Fridays. These playgroups give children space to move, run, and play while families enjoy time together in a fun, energetic setting. Active play supports healthy bodies and happy minds, and it gives families another chance to connect and laugh together.

At FRC, our goal is simple: to create a place where families feel safe, supported, and connected. Our playgroups help build friendships, strengthen family bonds, and create a sense of community. When families feel connected, they grow stronger together and that’s something we are proud to support every day.
